Joel Christiansen
Joel Christiansen is an employment attorney with the employment law firm of Mitra Law Group. Joel is a law graduate of California Western School of Law in San Diego. Joel is admitted to practice law in all state and federal courts in Oregon.
Joel is also a cum laude graduate of University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Prior to attending law school, Joel worked as a legal administrator at several prominent legal institutions in Milwaukee. Joel was also the Director of the Milwaukee Bar Association’s Lawyer Referral Services in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Throughout law school, Joel clerked for the litigation firm of Nicholas & Butler, LLP where he was part of a team that achieved a number of seven-figure verdicts and settlements in business and class action cases. Joel is a recipient of the prestigious AMTA All-American Mediator award.
Prior to joining Mitra Law Group, Joel maintained a busy Portland-based employment litigation firm where he focused on a wide variety of employment matters such as whistle blowing, retaliation, wrongful discharge, sexual harassment, discrimination, medical leave and wage and hour violations.
In addition to practicing law, Joel spends a significant amount of time giving back to the legal community. Joel has been an active member of our local, state and national bar associations. As a member of the Oregon Trial Lawyers Association, Joel sits on the New Lawyer Committee and Employment Law Section. Joel has been an organizer of legal education seminars for the Multnomah Bar Association YLD Professional Development and Education Committee. Joel also generously donates his time teaching basic trial skills to Portland State University students in his role as Educator/Coach of the PSU Mock Trial team.
Outside of work, Joel enjoys spending time flying airplanes, fishing, and exploring the Oregon wilderness. Joel is also an aspiring writer and a musician.
